FAQ about OMX-ADM

What is Handheld Odor Meter OMX-ADM used for?

OMX-ADM has good sensitivity to ammonia, hydrogen sulfide, methyl mercaptan,it's used for measuring pet odor and ammonia smell, detecting odor in hospitals and nursing homes, measuring garbage odor level in garbage disposal plants, restaurants and fish markets.

What is the odor intensity?

It's a reference function to show odor intensity of ammonia.

This odor intensity shows human smell in six stages of 0 (odorless) to 5 (intense smell), which is called "6-step odor intensity display method".
However it's rough information and there are variations due to individual sense differences.

OMX is converted odor strength value into ammonia concentration to display 2.5 to 5 as odor intensity,it is different from the original odor intensity. It's just for reference function.

How to shorten time for warming up?

After 3 minutes since the device turned on, it is possible to start measurement by pushing "ENTER" without waiting 10 minutes.

It needs time for warming up to keep sensor sensitivity stable, it is basically necessary to secure the time for 10 minutes for warming up.

What is the weak point of Handheld Odor Meter OMX-ADM?

There are individual variance of sensitivity.

If the same odor is measured with two or more devices, OMX may show the individual variance of sensitivity within a certain range.
However there is repeatability when repeatedly measuring the same odor with one unit.

Therefore we recommend to use the same device for repeated measurements.
